What Is A Food Diary?

A food diary is a great way to see what a person eats, spot patterns and understand the eating behavior a bit more.

Food diaries feature

A food diary is a collection of meals recorded against a specific point in time. Foodzilla organises the food diaries in four time periods: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Custom). Custom time periods lets you set a specific start and end date.

The meals are catalogued by pictures to make it easy to recognise and contain a breakdown of ingredients detected automatically using AI and full nutrition information.

Spotting Patterns

Visual food diaries make it easier to spot patterns affecting digestion, weight gain, sleeping late and more.

For example, a person may not know their stomach is sensitive to onions and that could be one of the reasons causing their digestion discomfort. Another one could be eating foods with added sugar at night impacting the quality of their sleep.

Eating time is important too

As your client logs meals through our app, you will be able to see them almost instantly as they’re recorded. This gives you even more insights into when the client is eating not just what they’re eating. This is what we call Real Time Data Sync.

You can see these diaries in the meal section for every client by going to the client details page.

Food Diary App

Our mobile app for clients makes it super easy to keep a food diary and syncs the data with our platform. As their dietitian, you can easily track their progress and see the meals they're eating.

Using our AI, the app will detect ingredients and estimate calories almost instantly. The app is available on iPhone/iPad and Android.
